A month ago our kitchen flooded due to a pipe burst. We had a engineered wood floor over an insulated wood subfloor that was built up over a concrete slab on grade.
So now we are looking at replacing the floor with another laminated product (this time linoleum laminate). And in conjunction I’ve been looking at an electric radiant heat system. The product is a sheet or foil type made by a company called Step Warm Floor and is unlike the type I’ve seen where the cables are embedded in a mesh and are used more traditionally for tile installations. Does anyone have any comment or experience with this product?

Used something like it from warmlyyours.com and it is really easy to install and use. Embed the "grid" in thinset and tile after this first thinset has set.
I have insomnia tonight and a nu-heat system in my bathroom http://www.nuheat.com/ It rocks
It is so nice to have warm feet while on the throne. It is the sole source of heat in the bathroom and does a great job. It has been running for about 3 years. Say an increase in the electric bill of about 5-10 dollars monthly but so worth it. It has a fantastic programmable thermostat and works great.
good stuff.
The nuheat folks custom made the mat based on my floor plan. It was quick, easy and not too expensive.
Monica & Stephan are some of the best the radiant industry has to offer. I've known them for many years by way of the RPA (Radiant Panel Association). Their Step Warmfloor product is one of the better types available and it's also compatible with solar PV systems.
