Electrical and Plumbing Contractors in the DC Metro and Surrounding Areas
If business is slow for you, you must absolutely advertise to install back-up generators for residences. My elderly parents almost froze to death because they were not able to heat their house when the power went down. My dad is hell bent on having a back-up generator installed. This area appears to suffer from frequent power outtages. It is an very affluent area, yet the infrastructure resembles that of a third world country. When I lived in Lebanon, all the wealthy people had back-up generators and cisterns with drinking water, as the government was incapable to providing these basic services on a regular basis. We appear to be headed in this direction. Not sure what the most effective way to get the word out would be, but I imagine craigslist would be an option. Another option would be to print up flyers and go door to door, although that might appear to be predatory. I would also imagine plumbers are going to be very busy repairing busted pipes, as temperatures have been in the 10-30 degree range on a consistent basis. If you live nearby to the affected area, and have no work, it would behoove you to look into temporary lodgings in order to take advantage of the amazing amount of work that will be a result of this catastrophe. I would imagine trucking in portable generators and selling them door to door, you would make a killing. You need to be set up to take checks and credit cards though. The shelves in the supermarkets are completely bare from people hoarding supplies.
