I’ve got a small deck badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. I hate painted decks. They seem to need new paint each year. I know Trexx or equivelant is the best solution…and the most expensive. But what about using an epoxy paint? Anybody with experience putting epoxy on a deck?

I used epoxy paint on a concrete garage floor once. What a PITA. Smelled! And it spreads about like molassas. Only mix up what you think you can spread in the open time (which is generally less than you may think!). What about either transparent or semi-transparent stain? Easier to put on and easier to recoat and it doesn't flake and peel and look scabby.
AAA, I recently had a job of similar description. We sand the decking, washed, primed with oil based primer and then rolled on a floor epoxy that is sild at Ace hardware. Now normally I a m leary of paint products from ace, but this worked out great. The porch gets daily wear and tear and is holding up well. Oh be sure to add some "grip" to the epoxy.. makes it not so slippery when wet!
We used a Sikkens Rubbol DEK Opaque Stain for our deck last year and it's wearing pretty good. I suppose I'll have to recoat it again in a year or so. The film is holding strong, but it does show stains. Lots of colors available and we were able to get exactly what we wanted.
