Hello all
I removed the outdoor “carpeting” that was covering the concrete stoops to my home–this is the stuff from the mid eighties – i’m guessing.
Well what I have now is a concrete stoop covered with hard as hell glue/epoxy–what ever it is it won’t come up easily. I’ve tried Muriatic acid–nothing, wire bristle head attatched to the drill–zippo.
Chiesiling it away is somewhat effective way–but ssssssssslow. I tired burning it away with “controlled burns” with mineral spirits and that actually is working prtty well.
I will be painting these stoops when they get cleaned up-and removal of glue is purely for cosmetic reasons.
Any ideas out there on how to deal with this situation?

Masonary wheel on a side grinder.
Do it right, or do it twice.
that would probably work--but then I'd have to go out and buy one--which I'm not sure I can justify.
good idea thoughTake what you want, leave the rest
Then you might try a belt sander with really coarse grit. What about a metal rasp or coarse file?Do it right, or do it twice.
Or renting a grinder for the day, couldn't be to much money?View ImageGo Jayhawks
Well muractic acid is not an adhesive solvent.
Look at the home horror stories for adhesive remover.
If is is epoxy then heat will usually soften it.
yeah--I hadn't really thought about using an actual heat gun --that might work better then just lighting the step on fire--sort of the difference between a dumb bomb and a smart one--duh on me
