Hi all,
Have been repairing a bunch of wood sashes in my old building here in
Bmore (Baltimore). Getting to the end of the epoxy repair.
Does anyone have any recommendations or experience on the best paint to put over the epoxy repaired sashes?
I have flooded the bottom parts of the sashes with thin epoxy as they have the most damage and then filled gaps, cracks etc. with thick epoxy putty. The tops of the sashes and interiors will not get much epoxy.
I am invested in this for myself, so material cost and labor is not an issue. I just want it to last.
Given that I’ll have raw wood coated with epoxy, and raw wood uncoated on the same sash, what would be the best paint to cover with?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!
Tom

Hi Bear,I have been using a Zinnser product for priming so I will look into their products for use over epoxy. The epoxy I use is from http://www.jgreer.com.
Much less expensive than West or System Three etc. and
it works very well in my experience.Thank you,TomYou Don't Know.

There was an article about window repair and painting in the March issue of JLC. If you don't already subscribe, you may want to check their web site at http://www.jlconline.com If it is not archived, you may be able to order that article. It was detailed and very informative.

Have you used his putty? I use a lot of the System three but at $120 per gallon he doesn't seem any cheaper...I think I pay about $50 for 1/2 gallon. I need to check again though. I may be thinking of something else.

Right now I'm using some epoxy putty I bought on ebay.
It is 3M Scotch Weld brand. Ran about 45 or 50 bucks for 17 lbs.
of putty and about 5 lbs. or so of the catalyst.Seems to working just fine and the seller has an excellent rating.
I'll look up the name etc. later....TomYou Don't Know.

The ebay seller I have used is orionspyramid. You should be able to
put that name in and find his products fairly easily.TomYou Don't Know.
