The other day someone was asking about building costs and one of you guys posted a link to a website where you enter the data and get a rough estimate. I thought I bookmarked the site, but now can’t find it. Does anyone remember?

Bump.
I'm curios.
Be wary of computer estimating. I was on large highrise renovation job where they did a lot of computer estimating and boss lost his shirt. Square feet cannot estimate changing ceiling elevations in steel framing, or lots of drywall cornes, tops, short boards, or material loading obsticles.
Try "Get-a-quote.net" or "Building-cost.net" ( think, cuz I lose this page when I try to find them)
Use as a guide only...
All the best...
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
yup... http://www.building-cost.net/
As others have said, be wary of those generic cost estimators. 33.3% of the time you'll come in way over budget, 33.3% of the time you will come in way under budget, and 33.3% of the time you will be spot-on. Unless you're gonna build three houses, I don't like your odds. :)
No worries, I wouldn't dream of expecting a computer estimate to be on the money (or even close). I was just looking for a starting point, and an idea of what all needs to be quoted. I'm real early in the process (don't even have the plans from the architect yet), so I'm just gathering info.
Thanks all
If you're trying to put together a budget, I don't understand why you wouldn't want information specific to your area? What's really going on?View Image
