Hello,
I am looking for a relatively simple estimating software system that will help me organize and quantify catagories and numbers in order to expedite the process. Anybody working with a great system? I do residential construction from the ground up plus remodels.
thanks,

I am looking for the same thing. I just found a book on ebuild.com...can't remember the name, but its something about how to use Excel for estimating..... Anyone used it before?
Thanks!
Estimating With Microsoft Excel by Jay Christofferson. It goes through a sample estimating program and shows how to set one up in excel.I've read through it and think I can make a custom system with my numbers that will streamline how I do estimates. I think it will work well.If I can get it done. The book has been sittng by the computer for two months waiting for a rainy day.
been looking for the same thing myself....Hope the "elders" of the forum pipe up and answer the call for help!
it's ok to think you're as old as you once were...just so long as you don't try to prove it...

Excel.
If you can add, multiply and use %'s you can easily make your own custom estimator.
I made a complete footing/ foundation and flatwork estimator using nothing but basic math. It had one summary sheet to print for the customer and several detail sheets for me. All I had to do was plug in the basic dimensions.
And maintain all the price sheets, etc. My next step was to automate the price sheets with invoices.
