Greetings, I’ve been toying with this idea for the past little while of subscribing to an on line referal service. I’ve checked out some and even subscribed to one in the past. For the most part these services are kind of like a yellow pages, people type in something like ‘kitchen remodel in Toronto’ and then they all pop up. At which point a referral service is chosen and the potential client enters the specifics. Later that day an email will go out to me and the 5000 other contractors in that area listing details of where when for who ect. If you do get in touch with these people my experience is that these are largely just tire kickers. I had someone from the other side of the city call me about a second story addn. only to ask me what made more sense to move or renovate. I had a renter call me to come and see about moving a bathroom and kitchen, didn’t bother to tell me about the renter part until I got there……….you get the point. Recently I’ve come across a company name ASHTON WHITEHALL, the service is different, rather than a monthly fee, it’s a yearly fee, you buy areas (done by postal codes). 10-25 cents. a house minimum of 10,000 houses. The owner has contacted me on several occasions now. Says he’ll work out some sort of deal with me so I can try it(but not free). Also he wants me to be interviewed to see if I meet their credentials and then I’m supposed to buy a blackberry because they deal with the insurance companies and in the event of an emergency they want to know who can be there right away ect. Has anyone had any experience with this company? Has anyone had any good experiences with these online agencies?

the flags started waving and the bells chiming when you said on call 24/7 and insurance companies...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!

My experience was that it cost me money and all I got to talk to were a bunch of "tire kickers".
I would be (and have a standing offer to everyone I know) that I will pay a "bounty" for a secured job...not some pointless lead. Get me a job and I will gladly give you 1, 3 maybe even 5% of the job value for getting it for me.
But I will not pay money to have you post my name just so everyone can point and click there way to free estimates.
