Ever Used Simpson’s CJ Concealed hangars
I am thinking of using them for exposed glulam rafters because there are few other options for a simple and attractive way to attach them that will look good when exposed.
Intereseted in both experiences with installing them and ideas about alternatives for exposed hangars (SIMPLE< PLAIN) My rafters at 3 1/8 x 7 1/2 I would use CJT3 hangars.

I haven't used those but I wouldn't hesitate to. They will take longer to install than typical joist hangers because you will have to drill carefully for the pins, but if you do it cleanly it will be very slick. You might be able to stop the groove in the end of your beam so it doesn't show from the bottom.
I've installed quite a few, they are great for hidden fasteners. A ten inch saw, with a wide kerf blade is great to have my favorite is a small chain saw. I've also done them with a skill saw and a sawzal. take your time on the layout, if you need to do more than one or two build a template for drilling.
careful drilling will allow you to have one face with no holes and with a little skill you can make plugs for the holes and kerf.
good luck
