I am looking to put a trim band around the perimeter of a house currently under construction. The trim band seperates the siding and brick base by overlapping the brick.
The problem is that the design requires a 1 x which is 14″ tall. Short of very expensive Azzak brand trim we are coming up at a loss. Piecing the band is not an option.
The architect and builder are searching for a product. Does anyone know of anything which comes in lengths of 14′ – 16′ which can be used as this exterior 1 x 14″?

Have you considered edge-glued options? I used to be able to get 1x16 edge-glued fir in Seattle (not anymore). I think it was intended for cabinet use.
My own opinion is anything you can get in solid lumber that is 14" wide or more is going to want to cup and warp on you pretty badly. All the "old" houses (ca 1900) I've worked on have used two-element trim bands when covering anything over 10 inches. They typically lap by an inch or so, and step out as you go up, just like shingles would do. You could flare the siding out to accomodate the "step-out" and/or add a water table molding.
DK if I'm picturing this right, but how about sillhorn & MDO with an edgeband applied with exterior glue?
I've edge glued PVC trim and was sceptical the first time but needed to do something and it was all I could come up with to create a 13" 1x... after glueing, sanding and routing and finishing it was virtually seemless.
