I am building a new home and need to pick out my exterior paint colors. I am at a loss. Normally, choosing colors is easy for me, but for some reason I am so scared of messing up on the exterior colors….I guess because I know I’ll be stuck with whatever I choose for a long time. YIKES!
The house is in the mountains. It will have posts anchored in stacked stone across the front porch. The posts will be stained. There is a 20 foot vault that runs from the covered back porch through the den, foyer and out on to the vaulted front porch over the front door. I will have wood garage doors that coordinate with the color of the columns.
ANY ADVICE you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I’m really stressing over this!
I have also got to choose where to put stone on the house, board/batten, horizontal siding and cedar shake siding.
THE HOUSE HAS BRONZE WINDOWS and a METAL BRONZE ROOF (both are similar shades of dark brown)
THANKS! 🙂 LEE
*There should be an attachment with the front of the house. Ignore the siding and roof that is shown on plans—that is not correct.

If you don't have a wife to make the decisions for you, I'd advise that you hire some sort of decorator to help you. A reputable paint store should be able to recommend someone.
Thanks Dan—-
I AM the wife. LoL
I’m just having a hard time with something that usually comes easy to me. Thx :)
I agree with Dan that a designer will make the process easier and successful. However, you can also mock up samples of siding etc. and try out different colors to narrow your choice. Don't be afraid to paint/stain a large area, or several areas with multiple fields of the sample colors. It's a lot easier to repaint those "large" areas than it is to do over the whole house (or stick with a color you don't really like rather than repaint).
You have elevations and possibly 3d views. Have your designer render them in color. It's easier to change colors on a rendering than on the house.
