I have round exterior electrical boxes mounted on my house.
The lights we had picked out were barn or utility lights, and mount to the box no problem.
The lights for the front of the garage are the kind that mount to an octagon box built into the wall, and rely on the fixture to siding interface for the waterproofness.
Is there such a thing as a plate that attaches to the exterior surface mount box, that would let one mount a light fixture designed for a flush mount?
A medium to large guy named Alan, not an ambiguous female….
NOT that there is anything wrong with that.

Can the surface mount box be replaced with a thinner model? Recess the thinner box?
If the box had to stay put I'd add a decrative filler milled from something imune to water, such as AZEK pvc trim. The light would then have something to seal against and wouldn't look like it's floating out away from the house.
Good luck with that.
Beer was created so carpenters wouldn't rule the world.
I don't think the electrical industry offers anything like that.....at least I've never seen it.
The options I see are: replace the box with a round old-work box and set it into the wall; make a 8"-square or so block of your own that brings the surface to the front plane of the box; or get a different fixture.
