I really like the Deckmate-type exterior screws. . .anybody know of a similar coated trim screw for exterior aps (or perhaps the strongest/best/whatever your opinion is)? I think stainless is a bit too soft . . .

Those are decent ext. screws. Last couple Trex decks I've done, used the new Trapeze screws. Excellent for composite decking.

there's only 3 kinds of fasteners we can use in this salt water atmosphere.... hot dipped galv.... silicone bronze... or SS... we usually use SS , sometimes pre-drill, sometimes not..
the new coated screws will show rust stains within a year...
we like the GRK SS trim screws with the torx heads, about $0.09 / screw
