I’m planning on replacing rotted/damaged tudor trim and clapboards (vertical-horizontal-diagonal) as well as the cement stucco between them. The wood trim/siding will need to be custom fabricated on site to match existing. In the past i have used 5/4 #2 pine, Doug fir, treated pine and spanish cedar and used a right angle grinder with 60 grit discs to distress the wood with various levels of success. The look is acceptable initially but eventually it too rots out, shrinks, twists, checks etc. This job requires a decent amount of material and varies from 5/4 x10 on the claps and 2×10 on the trim boards. This job is located on Long Island but not subject to direct/severe conditions.
