I am trying to choose a product, preferably a semi-transpartent stain for rough sawn cypress siding and trim (new application). I have no experience and at this point have become overwhelmed by the choices. We live in the mountains of NC, therefore; a wet and humid environment. Does anyone out there have experience with either the water-borne oil products, acrylic/latex, or oil based products to offer me their wisdom or suggestions? I am looking for a strong reason to choose one over the other.

Linseed oil bases are good but that feeds the mildew which will turn the place blacker every year. be sure the product includes a fungicide.
Sunlight will do damage to wood too, so whatever you choose, it needs to have UV protection included
