Hi Gang, this might interest those of you who have the EZ Smart Guide. I’ve had it now for a few months and I like it more every time it gets used. Router guide is next…I’m hooked.
My regular job-site table is Trojan horses with a scrap of ply on top. I’ve been using it with the guide, but it’s less than ideal. I like the idea of a raised table like Dino’s but didn’t want the extra piece of ply in my already cramped little trailer, so I designed this with what I was already carrying and used some space where there was nothing anyway to stow it all.
Here’s the result:

I like it. I am also going to use the way you store the stands to store my bessey clamps. Maybe afew more pictures of your trailer setup also?
6 x 10 Wells Cargo, tow it with my old friend '83 Blazer, which gets a whopping 7 mpg on a good day. Short length and small turn radius works well in tight older residential areas, plus I like the old truck...had it for 16 years.
Here's some interior shots. Left enough space to strap 4x8 against left shelves.
Pic 219 shows the EZ Smart, PVC pipe behind holds TS fence and dowels for laminate work. I'm refining the storage design, was going to get a 2' longer trailer, but postponed because I wanted it all and priced myself out of the market! PJ

Hey, I got the old movers blanket too.
They sure can come in handy.

what is that?
"I can't say I was ever lost, but I was bewildered once for three days."
A guided planer. With build in (stop) brains.
It will stop at the positioning line, that is the same for your circular saw.
Or you can cut with your circular saw and follow with the planer (one pass)
The same tool it will work for your router and belt sander.

Is that THE router attachment or is this something new just off the presses?

If we make one jig for each tool...then we need a traler full of jigs.
This is THE router attachment. One and the same.

Much to my regret I have as yet to open my EZ system I got a while back with the router setup.
I understand that the build instop on the routersetup is something new. Can that be added to my system or is the whole component needed?
be planning

You have to buy 3 more systems in order to get the build in stop ...free.
You better strart using the first one.
Or, you send yours in and we upgrate it for $1.000.00
And this special offer is only for you.
Gee Dino, how come only Razz gets the hot deal?PJ

Yep, I use it as a dropcloth to catch dust and chips...and a pad for nobby and sore knees. Sometimes use it on a countertop so I can set my tools down and not worry about customers freaking out.PJ

It's like a regular versatile tool.
Handy when needing to move tall items thru doors.Up on end then pull it like a sled, maneuvering.

Peter,Tell me how the aluminum bench works for you. My brother is thinking one like that might work for him for casing. What do you use it for? How do you like it?
peter.... nice setup...
i'm ashamed to show the interior of our 7 x 14.. when it's loaded .. it's hell on wheels
tell me more about your alum. bench..
i bought a pair for a nephew as a house warming... often thought about buying another pair for us..

We'll see how it works out Dino, I hear you about 100% access, but this table does triple duty and I was trying to cover all the bases including supporting 5x10 laminate. The cool thing is the idea can be modified as I see fit, or the 2x4s get cut up and need replacement.
Gene, the ply only goes on top if I'm using it as a work table, chopsaw stand or whatever. Cutting sheet goods, I'll use the grid as a sacrificial work surface and skim the tops of the 2x.
The bench is something I've really come to love. It's a cheapie...like $35. if I were using a couple of them and stretching a plank between, or needed something more twist-resistant for uneven ground, I'd probably look for something sturdier. It's the perfect height for getting me up to a ceiling or top of cabinetry for crown or paint, plus it has a little back and forth walking room, and yes, I've walked off the end a time or two! Easier to move than a ladder and often more convenient. I've used it as a quick chopsaw stand and a bunch of other things. Highly reccomended...it it broke, I'd replace in a heartbeat.
The trailer is better organized than it might be because that was part of my project this weekend...although I have been accused of being anal :). Also, I'm the only one using it, which makes a big difference. I hate not being able to find something. There is another benefit; I'm almost always working in someone's home and I've had several clients make positive comments about it, helps put them at ease about the work I'm doing.
Trimcarp, I mostly do existing cabinet mods and upgrades in older homes. Move shelves up for bigger refers, modify for larger or different style ranges (drop-in vs free-standing), laminate counters, etc. Crown and chair rail are things I'd like to persue more. Hot housing market around here, and many people wanting to upgrade homes in small ways. In the right subdivisions referrals can be a great source of work.PJ

Peter,I have two of those benches and I really like them too. I often spread my tools and supplies out on one bench and use the other for climbing up and down to work on wall cabinets, etc.I seldom use my ladder anymore, with that bench around.
Nice job Peter.
The only problem that I can see is that you lose the 100% clamping access. In this case I will get some non skid tape for the EZ Smart.
View Image Non Skid TapeItem#: NSTPrice: $3.50Overview: When clamping is impossible, and you don't want the EZ Smart guide rail to move, apply this tape to the bottom of the EAC-1 antichip edges. Sold in rolls of 8 linear feet. enough for both sides of a 50" guide rail.
And I will make the grid smaller. 36" x 80" is more than enough to support a 4x8
and give you clamping access at the same time all the way around the panel.
See if you can make something to drop few cross members between the 2x4s for smaller pieces of wood or plywood.
And about the SRK. It will work with all your other tools.Routers- Planers-Beltsanders and zick saws. Even your drills.
YCF Dino
Gosh! How can you find anything in that tool trailer? ;-)
Nice setup. Either Fine Homebuilding or Fine Woodworking had an article a ways back about a grid like yours for use in sheet goods cutting. Same notched 2x grid, but maybe one more crosspiece and lineal.
I really like the way yours marries to the Trojan horses, which store nicely.
Why use a piece of scrap on top? Is it so you can set your saw depth a little deeper, and avoid occasional partial-cut-throughs? The article in the mag that I saw showed the guy always using his bare.
