"T.C.O.B." (takin' care of business)
On Elvis' grave marker, according to my brother, who tells me that the song by B.T.O. was Presley's all-time favorite.

Hey Andrew, I tried to post this earlier today but it got lost in the confusion of this new sign in procedure.
John Adams' last words"Thomas Jefferson still lives"...Adams died within hours of Jefferson, and since they were close friends for many years, reconciling after a long disagreement, I have often thought how cool it was that Adams,on his death bed new the signifigance of the date and thought of his friend.
Due to lack of internet service and E mail communications Adams was un-aware that Jefferson had actually pre-deceased him.

*Ooops, is my face red.My apologies to all the Southerners.
*Adrian,We tell it as " I told 'em I was crook" on the tomb of an Aussie Soldier killed in France in the War to end all Wars.
*Mark,How many times have you "burned an inch". (hold the dumb end of the tape on the "one inch mark" to get a more accurate reading). It never fails that you forget to add the inch and the piece you cut comes out wrong.Famous last words: "hold the tape there, and burn one"Ed. Williams
*Please don't remind me.Stuffed up bigtime about a year ago.Had a big shed to set out.Steel portal frame set on piers 6 metres deep ( thats another story buried somewhere in the archives ) and I'm so carefull as I want to get these positions dead right I'm holding the tape on the "100" ( metric here, 100 mm ). Yeah I allowed for it alright, added on a METRE instead of 100mm. End result... 2 x6 metre deep piers poured one metre off centre ( not to worry they were only for the doors and specially set out for that distance so the owner could get his machinery inside)Was my face red?Still haven't billed him for that job.We see each other from time to time and have a laugh about.
*I love that song!blue
*Adrian I don't know if it's the same tombstone, but if you're ever in Key West take the cemetary tour. One of the deceased was a local waitress who complained of being sick all the time. Her marker is inscribed as follows, "I told you I was sick." It's right around the corner from one that says "Devoted fan of Julio Inglesias." Can't drink and fish all the time, sometimes you have to take in some of the local cultural events. Somewhere just north of the KeysShakey Jake
*See... I told you kids the metric system was evil.

Once again the Proverbial Inch Strikes!!

"Don't worry, I flipped the break...."

*Interesting thread, Located on a tombstone in N.H. "readers behold as you pass bye, as you are now, so once was I, As I am now, so you must be, Prepare for death and follow me." Ocean Born Mary there's a whole legend (story) behind this enscription, but I think the saying is kinda thoughtfull , enjoy! Geoff
*I refused to attend his funeral. But I wrote a very nice letter saying I approved of it.Mark Twain

Mark Twain also said; There is no such thing as an athiest. Every man believes that he is god.
*Lincoln's first Inaugural: "This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revoluntionary right to dismember or overthrow it."

Blues Topic on Business Cards prompted me to start this post.
