Is there a reason a contractor would leave an 8-10″ gap in the fascia? I’m being told it’s for ventilation, but we have intake vents on the eaves and ridge vents. The attached image is what you can see from inside the attic. When they installed new fascia, they left this gap and the wrapping is visible.

Someone cut the board too short. Or they did not have a long enough piece left.

That's what I assumed was going on, but since it's my first go-round with roofers, I wanted to verify
There should be no such hole in your fascia. You need to get it blocked up or you'll have problems with rodents. :(
