I am building a walkway/deck along the back of my home that is 5′ wide. Because the home butts up to a conservation zone the Conservation committee wants minimum disturbance in the ground. They are letting me put sauna tubes only on the outside. This means I need to anchor a ledger board along the side of the house into the concrete wall.
Does anyone have ideas about what kind of fasteners to use to maintain the structural integrity over time of the ledger. I looked at Triton HD 1/2″x4″ anchors but the specs say they are intended for interior use not the potentially corrosive exterior I have along a tidal river.

1/2 inch bolt.
thru bolt if the interior is accessable. lag into a lead shield if not.
there are other options...epoxy is one...."wedge" type bolts is another.
what's the local building inspector say.....lotsa local do's and don't on deck construction.

interior not accessible, the wall is below the floor in back were I will be putting the deck. I have to put 66 feet of deck and fasteners and was shying away from the lead shields because of the extra drilling and alignment issues.
I looked at "Thunder bolts" from concrete fastening systems. They seem to be the "wedge bolt" you mentioned. Their specs on a 1/2 x 41/2 (21/4 penetration) are more than enough (3999 tension and 7419#s shear) but since you hammer them into a hole I wondered if you get the full advertised spec? Any thoughts?
have you checked into tapcon screws, these use a special sized drill bit and self tap in concrete quite easily. dont know about the shear strength though, might be worth checking into
anybody have info on them?
fastening schedule? suitabilty etc etc?
did a web search using "tapcon", lots of answers in there, most i dont understand though

tapcons work great but the largest you can buy is 1/4 dia. I was not sure if it had enough sheer strength?
They rate them at 2100 pounds shear?
DO NOT USE TAPCONS TO FASTEN DECK OR OTHER STRUCTURAL LEDGERS!!!!!

anyparticular reason?
they seem ideal
aside from the fact they'll snap, the deck will fall and everyone on the deck(now closer to the ground) will sue ya....
unless the inspector see's it first and makes ya tear it down...
they are easy to use?

well i dont build decks much and have never used them for that anyway, but thanks for the info.
i do however use them for kitchen cabinets on concrete walls, usually top and bottom of every cabinet and at about 24 inch centers.
and yes witha hammer drill for drilling and a 14 v cordless for driving the screws, they are easy to use in both block and poured walls but block is easier
i humbly stand corrected!!
