The cultured marble sink/top for the small vanity for my half bath has no obvious means for holding it on to the top of the cabinet. What is the accepted way to tie this thing down? I was thinking that a couple of dabs of caulk might be enough and still allow the top to be removed at some future date. I think construction adhesive might be just a little to strong to ever allow easy removal. I suppose I could glue some blocks to the underside of the top and then screw those to the insides of the cabinet, but that seems like work…
Anyway, other than just leaving it loose and hoping it stays there, what is the standard procedure for this?

Any decent caulk or silicone will be fine 3/4 dabs will do ya.
I wonder if Brylcreem will work..
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
I was wondering if someone would pick-up on that, good man.
It just shows how old we are if we know what you are talking about:)roger
And I'm truly blessed that at 62 I still have a FULL head of hair.

O.K. Let's hear it...in two part harmony.
Is that stuff still around? I remember I had one tube of it, sometime in jr high, when I was trying to cultivate that way cool image which was later made into the musical Grease.
Turned out to be too much trouble, keeping the hair just right all day. Summer came and the hair got buzzed, not to return until the late sixties.

In my area, we preferred Dippity Doo.
Did Dippity Doo have a radio/TV jingle? How did it go?
BTW, what was the name of the stuff that George Clooney's character used so liberally in Oh brother, where art thou? That was one funny movie.
I don't recall a jingle. Did have TV ads, of course on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxTunPvi5pY&NR=1
OK. Different generation. Not the greasy kind from earlier times.
Yeah, different generation. In fact, by that time a lot of people had tossed there scissors and combs completely and were doing a lot of inhaling.
Probably "Vitalis", remember that?Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Mr. T got the line right, "I'm a Dapper Dan man"! One of the best running gags in recent movie memory.
I do remember Vitalis. It was mainly alcohol and aroma, as I recall.

Wow! Fearless Fosdick used Wild Root. That sure brings back memories...Lil' Abner and Daisy Mae in Dogpatch. HA!
I suspect that NBA coach Pat Reilly is an admirer of Fearless, as the only modern wearer of hair grease I've seen.
Wish I could watch the videos but I'm currently on dial-up.
Is that the one where a little dab will do ya?
Don't know that I ever used Brylcream Back in my youth, it was Butch Wax. That was my pre-Berkeley enjuneer days. Swore off flat tops, Butch Wax, slip sticks, and the celibacy such things imposed when I hit Bezerkeley and the Free Speech Movement Ran across my old slip stick the other day. I guess some people still collect 'em. Thanks for the tips on the vanity top anchoring.Glad I could provide a forum on hair care....
Latex caulk will hold a cultured marble top down just fine, done it plenty of times when I didnt have any silicone.
Doug
Your instincts are right. a little caulk here and there and voila.
I use silicone but cultured marble tops dont get a lot of jiggling so latex would work.
just run dabs or some beads on the cabinet top and drop it down.
When I am going wall to wall, I somoetimes dont even bother. Just caulk it in place once it is down
