Use the water based construction adhesives that are compatible with foam.
PL300
Warm it and be ready to clamp things.
Might need some extra re-inforcing
Why cover a vent?

the vent is actually an exhaust fan with louvers that open when i turn the fan on
i put a curtain wall in my shop to enclose a 10x12 area to spray doors, trim cabinets etc. i built a 4'x4'x12" deep box out of plywood and installed filters on that. it is on hinges. so i can hinge it open, under that i want to put the foam box.
when i spray i can heat my shop up,hinge open the filter box ,remove the foam box ,turn on the fan, spray what i need to spray then shut the fan down and let the heat build up again
i cut a 2'x2' hole in my wall to install the fan and louvers so the box is to insulate over the fan and louvers when not in use.
i will check out the pl 300
thanks............nicko
Pl 300 as piffen said.
I've gone through a case of it (32 oz. tubes) in the last month. Glued 1" foam baord to my foundation walls.
I also built three pyrimids as marching band props for the local high school. I used PL300 to glue the french cleats and dovetail boards to the back of the foam board, so they are easily installed and removed from the rolling rizer stands. After three competitions and numerous practices it is all holding up fine.
I just looked that up online, seems a good solution.I know that this particular foam also holds very well with the expanding glues like gorilla and sumo. I have no idea if they are appropriate for outdoors, but these do hold the foam very well and absolutely do not dissolve the stuff. Hot glue also holds this foam well although if the glue is too hot when applied you can get a little melting at the contact point. If you have a lot to hold you'll want something like Pl 300.
thanks to everyone for the input i will try the pl300

Here, at the big box, they sell something that comes in a caulk tube that is especially for that application. It is with the rest of the caulk and construction adhesiives.
Do not underestimate the strength of Spray foam in a can. (great stuff)
I was walking on a roof panel hoisting up timbers for my tower and noticed the panel we were standing on was cantalevered 10-12 feet out from the roof and held on with nothing more than great stuff.
The 2 of us weighed 450 pounds and the timbers weighed over 90 pounds each. In order to get to the top of the timbers to hoist them up into place I'd set a ladder up on top of the panel. we were lifting and climbing all over that panel held straight out from the roof with nothing more than a bunch of Great stuff holding it in place!
Since we'd been doing it for several days at that point we laughed and went on to finish building the tower. when we finally removed that panel and put in place the new roof decking we had to sawzall it off..
