Fastening T&G Mahogany decking
I’ll be redoing an old house covered porch, replacing the existing fir T&G decking with mahogany (only 4 cents more per lineal foot than fir). I had planned on blind nailing, i.e., tongue nailing the deck as you would with a T&G floor. Manufacturer’s (Plunkett & Webster) instructions/website, however, lumps together their T&G products with the regular decking material and calls for face nailing or screwing with stainless or galvanized (leaving room for expansion between the boards).
Does anyone out there have any experience with this? Also, anyone know where I can get stainless or galvanized flooring nails, or am I destined to drill and screw each fastener?
Thanks,
DGW

The folks at Manasquan have not only great selection, but excellent service and quick shipping.
Thanks for the URLs and name on fasteners. I got in touch with Plunkett-Webster's tech people and as suspected they combine all installation info into one document leaving out anything pertinent for T&G.
Thanks again!
