Ok, I have a rockwell 9″ tablesaw.
It has no fence.
Saw is…
Series 34.570
Serial # HY8721
Model 34.580
I’d rather not have to manufacture a fence for this, if I can avoid it.
I have searched the net for one, and all I find is other people looking for one, or expensive aftermarket replacements.
Does anyone know where I can get one.
Failing that, is anyone willing to take pictures of theirs from every angle, and possibly even slightly disassemble it, so I can have some idea of what the original is like ???

Jeff, b/4 I go out in the cold and look, how old is this Rockwell?

Older than dirt.Art Brockschmidt gave it to me.It has a kind of upside down angle iron made of aluminum on the front of the table, for the fence to ride on. There is noting in the back for the fence to latch to.

I have an olllllllld delta 9 ". Your description doesn't sound like its close to the same. Fence ran in "U" shaped channels, front side segmented and you turn a dial on the fence to move it right / left.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Ah.Well, this is kind of a u shape on the front. The saw is pretty much made out of stamped tin. Not a real beefy saw.But it'll do all the DIY work I'll ever put it to from now on.Well, I guess I'll start looking again for that old article in FWW or FHB about homemade saw fences. I saw one that was a lot like the biesemeyer... Homemade. That's pretty good.

I asked you in the other thread if your saw had the tube that the fence ran on, you said it didn't, I also read your description on this thread.
Is it possible to take a pic of the saw? I'm thinking that it has a fence system like some of the Craftsman saws. I'm having a tuff time visualizing it.

Thanks to everyone for the responses.Today turned into a very bad day for me, but I am going to respond to this, rather than hide in a hole somewhere. LOLOk, I have already decided to make my own fenceI took some pictures, just now, when I saw that Doug asked for them.I can't afford to buy anything at all, no matter how cheap. Free is too expensive, if there are shipping charges. LOLI have already designed this thing in my head. Ir is really very simple, and I know it will be solid as a rock. Very similar to the one I made years ago.I have all the pieces I need now except a piece of 4 inch "U" channel made of aluminum. Yes, 4 inch. Minmum. My last one was 5 inch. Needs to be what ? 2 and a half to 3 feet long ? Shouldn't be extremely expensive when I find it.

I'm thinking some modifications to a Tru-Grip clamp might make for a functional fence.

By the way...
I clamped a piece of wood to the saw today, to cut some plywood.
Clamping wood to the table does not work very well at all on this, but that's beside the point.
The first piece of wood that I cut..... man, the saw was a real dog.
Ran well, just really dogged it's way through the wood.
I went and got the freud blade that Doug Upah sent me, and installed that.
SUUUHHHWWWEEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!
As they used to say, "shwiiing" !!!
The right blade takes a nice tablesaw, and makes it a real beauty to work with.
Thank you very much, Doug Upah !!!

Get Biesemeyer's number from the web site and call them on the phone. They sell what they call "blemished" units for good discounts. I got mine that way. They list some on the web site, but others move so fast that they're gone to a phone customer like me before they can type them into the web site. They have two levels, "Blem 1" and "Blem 2", with 1 being very minor cosmetic damage, and 2 being really nasty looking. I got a 2, it works just fine.

Years ago I had a craftsmen table saw that wasn't worth putting an aftermarket fence on it. I made up a simple fence that resembles a T square at the front. The back had an L shape. I clamped the fence to the table front and back. Worked fine, most of the time the fence could be slid without adjusting the back. The fence was 2 1/2" high with four tringular blocks on the right angle to keep it square.

http://www.oldwwmachines.com/ Check this site out lots a pics ........Rik.......
Thanks for the link, Rik.I have something that someone there just might be interested in.It is an old bandsaw. Silver Mfg co. Made around 1909-1911. Has to weigh at least a thousand pounds. Needs major work, but if restored would be a real sweet machine. And most of the work is going to be getting rid of rust. This is the sort of thing that is some restorer's dream...

Ya know Luka that looks like a old delta TS fence would fit. The one with the round pipe type runners that bolt on in the the front and back. Im sure theres someone here who has one lying around. Most people replace those with a bies. I had one but when I moved i got rid of it.
but Im sure theres someone out there with one who like to just get rid of one. check nifty nickel or even the recycler..
Ron, I am constantly amazed by your absolute ignorance and your ability to bring any thread straight into the toilet.
.
An update...
I found the saw fence.
...Right where it was laid when Art brought the tablesaw out here.
Trouble was it is missing a part or two, and didn't look like a saw fence until I actually laid my hands on it. LOL
It looks to be very good. Solid. I haven't checked it for square yet. I'll find or make the part or two that it will need...
I may well end up making my own fence and rail later, anyway. Especially if I decide to enlarge the table surface by building it into a cabinet with a larger top. And especially since I now have all the parts I need, to make the fence.
Thanks to everyone that responded.

Well there you go Luka, wait long enough and it'll show up!
