Fence Gate a dog can see & visit thru ?
I’m in the final stages of replacing a 6′ lattice top red ceder fence…we back onto a greenway park where our neibours walk their dogs and kids play. What I would like to end up with is a gate with some type of cut outs or pattern of holes that my dog could look thru (but not be able to nip dogs/ kids) and be able to visit with the dogs she see’s from our 2nd story sundeck…now she goes crazy barking at some of the dogs that she can’t see on the other side.Anyone out there have any eye catching ideas ?

I tried to find one where the dog is poking his nose out. This gives you the idea though.
there are pet window features that can be installed in a wooden or any other type of gate to let dogs see outside. most iron companies can provide them. some are just plain iron bars with a frame that can be set into the gate, some are more elaborate and feature a small curved frame in the opening that the dog can stick his head in and get a look around. I have seen them available as stock items from gate supply companies before on teh interwebs.

How about something like this? A bit time consuming and maybe a little much for what you are trying to do. You could always make the slots a little wider so the dog can get her nose through.
These are built with cypress, but would look equally nice with cedar.
Sorry for the large file size, maybe someone can resize for me.
edit: I reread that you don't wan't the dogs nose to fit through, so this size would work well.

Your pics in smaller form. Nice gates.

A friend had one done that used a metal gate frame that you nail wooden pickets to. Real simple she had the pickets at the top cut into a curved pattern to give it some interest.
But the pickets are 1x4 and spaced about a picket apart so as not to be solid and allow various spots her dog can see out of.
