Fence post holes on edge of wall?
A question for you folks who have put up or replaced your own vinyl fence: I am thinking of taking down my old stockade fence and putting up vinyl. One side of my yard is on the edge of a wall that drops down about 20 feet (so essentially without the fence, you would walk off my driveway down a 20 foot drop). The current fence has metal posts dug into the ground near the edge of the wall, but many are loose. So I’m assuming that digging new post holes is the way to go — but is there any way to ensure that I have a strong post along the edge of the drop? Would it be better to move the posts in a few inches from the edge? That would take away a little yard space, but it would be worth it for peace of mind maybe. Thanks.

mike... what supports the 20' drop ?
is it a concrete wall..... a slope.. a vertical retaining wall ?
just moving it in a "few " inches may not do anything for you at all
it really depends on the strength of the retaining wall
Well, it was a gallant effort.
Sometimes they just don't come back to check their posts.
