I built something based off that article but a little different. It was a good article, all the gary katz usually are very good, and the article was easy to understand and didn't skip over good info. It was a very basic bookcase that was installed as a permanent piece.
That issue is only a year old, check out your local library and take out the issue. All the libraries in my area have FHB and FWW and allow any issue to be taken out except the current issue.
DDAy, thanks for the advice.

DDay,
I've built two bookcases based on Gary's plan in that issue....although, like Pippins, I made some slight changes.
For one thing, I cut dados into the case sides to help support the shelves. I know Gary says it's not necessary, but I found it to be easier to put the case together because it kept the shelves nice and square.
Check out the finished shot below, I made this one out of oak plywood and finished with tung oil.

Pun-ny, very pun-ny.........as an aside, one of my buddy's buddy's girlfriends said to me once
" Maybe you should learn from Phil how to screw in a nail", I told her " You might want to sit in on that class"....
She also ( blonde) once phoned to the house we were living in and asked for Tina,
" No, she's not here", I replied,
then asked for Geoff,
" No, he's not here either...".........
"Oh", she replied, "Can I ask who's calling then?".........."If 'tis to be,'twil be done by me."
Finished shot?

I have made 4 of them since the article was published. 3 were gifts and the fourth used up all the leftover material and was pressed into service for my daughters "stuff". The second one I built, I drilled the screw holes too far in from the case edges, and the stile only covered half of the screw. At my wifes suggestion, I added a horizontal rail at each shelf location on the outside of the case. It looked like the side was made up of four panels. Iwas ready to toss the material and start over, but ssometimes it helps to get a second opinion
Mine bookcase looks a lot like the one you built. Gary's was pretty basic which was fine for that bookcase but I added more trim on and made recessed panels on the sides. Also my bookcase was for my niece and my sister insisted on adjustable shelves despite my counciling her that you'll never adjust the shelves.
This summer I'm going to build at least one more larger bookcase that will be a take off of that one gary built. That one will have fixed shelves and I'll make a jig to router out dado's for the shelves. I know biscuits would hold twice what I'll ever have on the self but I like to do the dado's and over build it just to error on the safe side.
Is there a back on the bookcase? Looks like the wall shows through. Any problem with racking?
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
