If you go to the finehomebuilding.com home page there is a search box on the left side right below the title. But unless it has changed since I used it last, it's as useless as teeth in a chicken, cuz it only searches one word at a time. You can search "cabinet" but not "kitchen cabinet" so you will get a huge number of vaguely related hits.
Heck, now that I look a little, it's right there at the top of this page too.

Now and then I still get out my old xeroxed stapled together collection from the annual index they use to publish in the mag once a year.

The top-of-the-page search WILL look for "kitchen cabinet" (without the quotes) and will find pages with both "kitchen" and "cabinet" in them. Include the quotes and it will only find pages with the phrase "kitchen cabinet".

and the copper pipe thread?
He is talking about the Red Search button under the FHB banner. That searches the stuff on finehomebuilding.com not the forum..

i dont mean the red search button try this- click on fine homebuilding magazine at the top right of the page then click on FAQ on the left, then find the page where it says (how do i find a magazine issue in wich a particular article was published) then click on the fine homebuilding index and you will see what i mean. it is an index to find articles in past magazines it will tell you what number mag to look in. i cant find any other way to get to it

thanks again...nicko
I know. I'm taking a web design class, and we're studying aspects of "good" page design now. It's amazing how often it's hard to see something that's staring you straight in the eye on a web page. Compared to most other sites the Taunton pages are well-designed, but they still could use some improvement to "lead the eye" to what you're looking for.
