So I have a project that has required a fair amount of demolition and we are ready to begin the constuction phase. Removing the old house meant taking out two crawl spaces and the new plan is to fill them and build on slab.
I am loading the addition directly to concrete stem walls- there will be considrable fill around these walls with a slab over- I plan to place the fill in six inch lifts and compact mechanically- so the question is what is the best fill material? Most stable? Excavating to crawl or basement has been ruled out as an option- it is not attractive to my homeowner.
So what is your recommended process to fill thirty to seventy inches of space in prep for a concrete slab ?
Specifically the fill material…
