………..at least that is what we will all think if this server goes down before they make the necessary changes.
I for one will miss it if it bites the dust due to stress caused from posting graphics during this critical time. Really tough to limit the gif, jpg, etc. images to their limit of 70K(?).
There is a solution that may take some burden off their server and actually it is far superior to posting and storing our graphics on Taunton’s server.
Go to ‘www.photopoint.com’ and set up a free account. It’s quick, painless and will store gazillions of graphics FREE of CHARGE which you can still link to in your posts. You can even have an UNLIMITED number of photo albums which you can link to separately. You can even ‘lock’ specific albums and email a ‘password’ to those who you wish to have access. (Just in case your wife decides to give exclusive access to her girlfriends of your nude pics on that wild weekend at Black’s Beach)
This whole sha-bang will load in a matter of seconds when you click on it. You also have the option to use their photo editing features to clean up to a limited extent.
The ONLY thing you need to do to get your free account started is to email(click attachment and browse for your graphic file) a gif, jpeg, jpeg, tif, bmp, etc to:
You will then receive an email back giving you the ‘url’ of your own photo website. So, when everyone gets back from the Breaktime 2000 get-together we will have tens of thousands of ‘virtual’ photos (and videos-ask me how) of the great times we had to link to without causing a ‘crash’!!!
I would be happy to answer questions or assist anyone I can to the extent of my experience, with using this free resource if you would like to email me. Just click on my email address above.
And in case you are wondering, I don’t own any stock in this company nor do I get a referral fee. They don’t offer referral fees or I would take advantage of them. I’ve just been using their service for almost a year now (with SEVERAL different accounts) and can’t tell you just how valuable it has been for myself as well as the contractors and other clients that I serve.
Knock yourself out!!! You can’t hurt anything, especially Tauntons overloaded server.
Jeff
If you would like a taste of what I have done with this one account, just point your browser towards ‘www.photpoint.com’ and where you see a box titled ‘View a members’ Album’, just type in
my email address:
Choose any one of my albums from the list. Some are locked and that is just tough, but that is the way it is supposed to work.

I guess I blew that one with a typo.
Go To:
http://www.photopoint.com
Where it asks for a member's email address, enter:
[email protected]
Sorry for the typo.
*I think you got a great idea. I'll check it out .Vince
*Thanks jj,I just got a digital camera for Xmas, which is my current favorite toy. It's an HP C200. Looking for interesting was to put it to it's best use. Have you researched software? or are you satisfied with the first one you purchased? Or did you pull up photopoint.com and scratch the purchases of software alltogether?Next click, jj's photo albums. Where's the key to the locked stuff, you know, albums of Black Beach?Mark
*Mark,It still is a good idea to get an independent photo editing program. I have a couple that I use for cleaning up/editing photos and video stills. Almost all of the stuff in my album is derived from a camcorder. I don't own a digital camera, yet. I damn near bought one but was sidetracked by the Dazzle Digital/Video Photo Creator hardware. Especially since I have documented almost everything in the past via camcorder.Black's Beach key?? Mark, I catch enough flack from the wife spending as much time as I do on Breaktime. Wifey would really shit a brick if I was to show everyone her tattoo. (strict jack Mormon girl)g.Jeff
