Otay......
but i hafta ask.... why?
Does that glue the top to the tip?
It is a polyurethane glue and the moisture will cause it cure/foam and harden.1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
LOL..No.
The Mother sponge now becomes a whole bunch of sponges and quietly continues to spawn even more sponges of off spring.
Dont ask me, cuz I never saw it happen. (G)

Tony, I quit useing the stuff..it ain't nice to play with at all.
I have used PL premium instead in all our serious glue situations..really more forgiving and less spooge factor..
Titebond 3 is bad, Titebond 2 is better...but a tube of PL is the best...drive a 3" screw in the nozzel and ya can pull the plug out and keep on keeping on..

Really? You'd have to cut the nozzle tip after the tapered part to be able to pull it out. I've used PL Premium , love it, but if I use just a little bit and cap it with a screw I've never been able to pull that out or get it to unplug. Then I have to throw it all out (what a waste). And if you cut the tip after the taper then you get a bead of glue that's way too large. How do you get around that?
I don't know, I find PL premium cures much slower with that screw in the tip. After a week or so, it's no problem to pull it out. Seems to work much better than with other adhesives, or silicone caulk.zak
"so it goes"
What Zak said. It comes out ez enuf cuz the nozzle stretchs a bit too.

They make a "condom" for caulks, but I have never used on.But I have had great luck with PL Preminum by taking a couple of sq inches of a plastic bag (like from Lowes/HD) and wraping it around the tip but not tightly. Then taping it in place with masking tape. Then filling it up with PL until I have about a 1/2 3/4" ball. Up to a month later you can just pull that ball off and the tube is open.BTW, PL also makes a urathane wood glue (Gorilla like). http://www.stickwithpl.com/products/detail.asp?PLProductID=35But I have never seen it.Someone used to make pu adhesive that had a flat top and you stored upside down, setting on the top. I had great luck with that. Liked both the flow of it and the self life after opened. But I have not see that around either. The only thing that I ever seen any more is the Gori$$a brand.

Ugh. I tried that stuff. I think it was made by Elmer's? Not sure. It worked fine but I hated the container. As you said, it stood on the cap. For me it was a major pain. The only way to set it down without glue leaking out is to find the cap and screw it on. This is hard to do when you're assembling something and need ten hands anyway. The first time I used this stuff I was assembling a small arched trellis made of red cedar and I wound up with glue all over the place.
I've had good results using clear plastic tape, the 2" wide kind used for cardboard moving or shipping boxes. Get a good seal between the tape and the plastic tip, 2+ layers, then squeeze a little of the material out into the tape, and pinch the end closed. Maybe 1/2" of flat pinched together tape at the end or so works fine. The important things are to eliminate any air, and to leave a little blob in the tape past the nozzle.

To get the hardened plug out of the PL nozzle (or any other caulking tube) try this:
1. Slit the nozzle lengthwise.
2. Pull/pry/squeeze the plug out.
3. Tape the nozzle back up with electrical tape.
I'm going to contact PL and suggest they package a small tube. I hate it when I have to open a new tube for a 2" repair, and it always seems that the last tube that I opened two months for a previous small job is plugged up so bad that the time to unplug it is not worth the cost of a whole new tube. Hmm, maybe that's by design...
Lee Valley sells what look like minerature condoms which work well for sealing caulking tubes and thats what we use to seal used tubes
Do you get the PL mail order? I did ####where to get search on their site and they come up empty. I would really like to try the stuff. I just bought a small bottle of Titebond 3 and haven't tried it yet. What doesn't it do? I hate working with the regular pu glue bedcause of the mess, and lately I have taken to using good old 5 or 20 minute epoxy. It's expensive I know, but if you buy it in bulk it ain't. Plus it's set within the hour. I can't find recourcinol glue around here anymore. Maybe at a marina.
Locally Lowes had PL Preminum and I think that HD does also.
Thanks. I'll check it out.
Yeah, and my wife doesn't like me using GG or equivalents. When I come in at night, I've got cherry (cheery?) red arms and neck and chest,

I can't resist but you said it so:
IT'S BECAUSE YOUR A REDNECK!
Yeah, maybe so, but at least I know that "your" means personal possessive, and "you're" means "you are".
And never, ever, forget - "ya'll" is plural. Always.
;-)
Forrest - getting redder and redder
Yes, you've got me there. I was too hasty to make my RED NECK comment, didn't think and got caught on my own contraction.
I knew I'd get bit when I posted it but I couldn't resist.
I thought it was spelled "y'all."
Absolutely - it was a trap for Woodway
Forrest
I'm watching!
Now wait a minute - I thought "y'all" was singular and "all y'all" was plural ... I'll never get this right ...
"I thought "y'all" was singular and "all y'all" was plural"
There was a discussion about this a while back in the tavern. The conclusion was that they're BOTH plural.
The difference was determined that all y'all" refers to a group of people that's too large to fit in your pickup truck.
Q: What do you call a lawyer who has gone bad?
A: Senator.
Q: What do you call a lawyer who has gone bad?
My Answer: "Your Honor."
"Ya'all" is singular. "All Ya'll" is plural! E.G. I like this forum cause "all ya'all" is brilliances!
B'leve DAT!

You've gotta watch out for skin inflamations with some glues. I was a boat builder for ten years and had to get out beacause of dermatitis caused from epoxy.

One remodeling client had a hard time keeping his G-glue from hardening in the bottle after being opened for only a few weeks. This was a head scratcher until it dawned on us how humid his basement shop was and how little he kept the cap on when gluing up stuff.
Any more the only things I use gorilla glue for are exterior trim repairs, window frames, setting post rails into floor framing and structural laminations. With the price so high it's tempting to simply start using more epoxy.
Cheers

The local discount store here - Ocean State Job Lot (several in New England, don't know about the rest of the country) carries Henkel Nail Power urethane glue - seems to be the same as GG, but they get $2 for an 8 oz bottle or $4 for 16 oz.

Seems to me that I've seen GG for something like $5 for a 2 oz bottle.
