My new workshop is up, dry-walled and ready for a floor. My question concerns a finish for the plywood floor. I’m using 3/4″ plywood. I like the look of the wood and I think paint tends to chip with moving machinery. Suggestions I’ve seen are linseed or other penetrating oil, a fortified tung oil (whatever that is) and a water lox finish. What’s your opinion. Thanks for the help. Don

Finish on a workshop floor? My opinion? Special recipie. Apply an uneven mixture of stain, paint, sawdust, spilt coffee, Skoal dribble, metal filings, oil drips, machinery grease, earwax, nose boogers, road dust, and solvents. Let it age for 20 years. It'll look great. Sweep once or twice a year for maintenance.

as above except the skoal drippings! for that european look use castrol oil and european hinges!
My personal favorite is foam. Mats, insulation, packing material, whatever. Standing in the shop for long periods can weigh on your knees (and feet.) Do the dogs a favor and buy 1/2" floor foam (I use the interlocking 2 foot square stuff and wish I had put it down sooner.) Your feet will thank you for it. May not smell any better, but at least they'll be grateful.
