Any innovative ideas for finishing concrete basement walls???
Walls are uninsulated on the exterior and I live in western Mts of Maine.
Have thought of simply studding up walls and using blown in cellulose vs shooting 2 x stapping into the concrete and using rigid insulation.
Any thoughts….ideas????
Costs, environmental considerations??? thanks

Whenever I finish out a basement I make sure there is a perimeter drain (fench) inside, with a sump pump, and a battery emergency back-up. Outside I want a drain tile to run water away from the foundation. After I'm sure that any leakage is contained I frame a 2x4 wall in front of the foundation wall and install batt insulation.
I prefer the added insulation factor and ease of building. It also creates an additional barrier of air. Don't forget to put up a vapor barrier before the drywall.
Good luck, Bill Swales
