According to the 1997 UBC “fire blocks of batts or blankets of mineral or glass fiber or other approved flexible materials” may be used.
Does anyone know of specific brands of materials for this.
We have a lot of sound walls and furred wall and furred-down ceiling spaces that we have to fire block and wood would be more labor intensive than we would like.
Thanks

Bud If you read some of the post in heating ,venting section on cels spray foam and check the archives on dense pack cels , From the post you may be able to use cels if you don't have to use wood blocking.
*out here in thurston county washington fiberglass insulation is suffient for use as a firestop which i practice on warm walls but generally wood block interior partion walls
*Rock wool is approved for firestop. My inspector asked me to use it in a coupla spots where firestop caulk wouldn't do. Fireberglass was not allowed. One source: http://www.sbshow.com/nc/rockwoolinsulation/Or, look up "rock wool" on the FHB site or "rock wool insulation" in Google.Trying to remember the brand I bought from a local drywall/material supplier--thermaguard or something--but it's not coming to me.
