I’ll be making a pair of fixed windows soon, next to a vinyl slider. My rough opening for each window is 6 1/4″ x 81″. I have cvg fir planed to 1″ for the side jambs. I’m wondering about whether or not to place the windows in sash. If I do, I’m afraid my exposed glass area will become too narrow. If I place the insulated glass panels against stops, will I have a window that will stand up to wind and water? Does sash increase the wind and water resistance at all?, or should I consider storm sash to be a given, whether or not I place the glass in sash?
What is the best glazing techniqe for fixed windows, I guess that is my question…
thanks
