After years of taking fixtures off of walls, having the paint stick to the fixture and peel, a problem much more common with high gloss latex in bathroom and kitchens, I want to try to stop the problem.
I’ve just painted a bathroom with high gloss latex based paint. I’m preparing to put the towel racks, switch cover, outlet cover etc. I was wondering if anyone has tried some type of paint release prior to installing the fixture. I’ve been thinking of using wax, waxed paper, silicone, or vaseline applied to the back of the fixture prior to attaching to the wall.
Has anyone any good experience with a paint release material?
Thanks
John

A piece of wax paper installed like a gasket and then trimmed with a sharp knife should do the trick. It should make people wonder when they take the fixtures down to.
If you haven't drawn blood today, you haven't done anything.
Thanks. I'm going to try it. Just have to make sure I cut the paper carefuly, so as not to damage the paint.
