Hi
I want to put a flagstone veneer over an old brick front porch. Essentially the brick is sound. The issue is whether to remove the first layer of brick or put the veneer down over the top of the bricks. If I veneerer over the bricks I will only have between 1/4 and 3/4 of an inch for cement. If this adequate? Would you advise acrylic admixture, how about thinset (costly). Would it be better to remove the first layer of brick? Any advice would be much appreciated.

This is purely a case of alien identity
If the brick is sound, go over it. I would use kera bond keralastic, similiar to to thinset but alot stronger.
