I would like to put a pergo wood floor over a concrete slab but I would like it to have give or a cousion when we dance or jazersize on it. Can I put 1/2 inch interlocking cousion walking pads under the pergo instead of the thin foam pad. Do you have any other suggestions on creating a moving dance floor

Cloud Hidden (jim) did a dance (gymnastics) floor a while back. Seek him out here on this site. Initially I would be concerned that that much cushion might break the glue bond. Pergo is pretty slippery, tho I've never done jazzercize. Best of luck.

Do you have any other suggestions on creating a moving dance floor?
Bar tiner- breen me anuer roun!
Highly effective... or so I've heard.
Be aware, this technique can run into unforeseen hazards and expense.

Are you using pergo as a dance floor?
yes I am using pergo or possibly another brand of laminate flooring. For ballroom type dancing the surface has just the right amount of friction and it is almost indestructiable with no constant waxing and cleaning...and cheap.
The newer snap together pergo may be more forgiving with 1/2 inch walking pad underneith,,,but I just don"t know

PJR, I would look into a Marley floor system, several different types, ie spring. At a new dance facility, I was doing punch work on, They had two Big dance floors, both set up a little different. On one floor system, was/is 3'' x3'' styrofoam blocks glued to the concrete floor @ 2' center's, 3/4'' t & g ply, then another 3/4'' t&g ply going perpendicular, then some top dollar linoleum. The Carpenter's were real leerly of the specs, floors turned out sweet. Once word got around town, ie new facility/Marley floors, I was amazed at the number of people/dancers, would stop on by, step on those floors,, and just SMILE, the facility, oh about 8 to 10 years old now, very succesfull . PJR, you build a Marley floor, the dancers will come. Jim J
Thanks 44 this just the kind of info I was looking for. Does the floor make a lot of noise dancing over the open space or was the foam put down solid. We did a counrty weastern line dance floor with 2 foot square 1x4 stringers but it really echoed.
Thanks pjr
PJR, here you go, "The Dance Studio" 1-928-771-9222, Arizona I think one of the starting teachers is still there, I think her name is Kathy, think. Anywho PJR , you call these people, ask your questions. I used to dance on chairs, bar tops , I also used to drink, wheewww, no more of either. If by chance you need more info, the Builder and carps are friends of mine, I see them all fairly often,, sooo, keep in touch.Jim J
Reminds me of a dance floor I saw at the University of IL a while back
I was there for a summer program in Architecture and we were able to tour a home that once belonged to some famous dancer.
The floor was maple if I remember corectly, but the interesting part of it was that it was set on a multitude of large springs,
so we were told.
You could jump on the floor and the impact was greatly reduced, the cool part was the floor didnt seem to move at all.View ImageGo Jayhawks..............Next Year and daaa. Blues View Image
