Got a layout back from an i-joist company and it looked unusual around the stair well. No lvls???
I found out the plans are drawn with basement walls supporting the stair well framing. So, no lvls only Is and rim boards. Call the joist company and told them that the basement floor goes in after the roof is on….otherwise it becomes a big pond.
Floor joist company said no problem “just let the walls hang” until the floor is done???
Don’t you think the i-joist floor will drop during this time….How will these walls float above floor until they are done? Is anyone else doing these like this? I am planning on calling back and saying re-draw with some lvls. Thoughts. Thanks

I'd leave those walls out entirely, and then if there is settlement before the floor is in, would jack back before building them in. If you leqave them hanging, it complicates the job of the crete floor guiys and it will shrink away from those walls anyway, requireing re-shimming. Also, few create guys will get the elevation of the floor surface exact anyway

Off hand, it sounds like a bad idea to me. But so does pouring the basement floor after the house is up.

I wouldn't argue the point with 'em. Just tell 'em you want the LVLs, and it ain't open for discussion.
