Hi-
Brother-in-law just bought a house here in Minnesota with a 10 year old 28’x28′ garage built on a nice concrete slab. Trouble is, now that its warm and there is some serious snow melt, he’s got a good 1″ of ice and water across the whole garage floor. After further inspection of the grade (now that the snow has melted down) we see that the garage is at about the lowest spot in the yard. Especially a problem at the door. Obviously the previous owner who built it didn’t do his homework.
So the question is: any clever ideas or resources I can go to for alleviating this problem? Thought about some sort of trench/french drain-to-sump system (especially a drain of sorts in front of that door), but if the ground above is frozen when the snow melts that doesn’t sound like much good. Any clever thoughts or help much appreciated…
-Thanks,
Brian
