Is there a good fair priced product that I could use to flatten out an existing concrete slab with? The current slab has a lot of dips and humps in it and I am looking for a product that I could place and flatten with a screed doing it myself. There will be places with about an inch of fill and places with none. The floor will be covered with carpet. I am not looking to get it level, just flat. I also don’t have any headroom to use. I was thinking a drypack type material that tilers use to make shower bases, but I don’t know how that would hold up under just carpet.

Hi Bski, Check out Laticrete's website. I've used the LatiLevel to level and flatten really bad subfloors prior to setting tile. They offer many different products for various applications- from skimming small low spots to potholes 3" deep. I really like all the products they make. Even though they are a tile supply company the leveling mortars are designed for use with any type of finished flooring material. You can probably find these products at your local good tile store. Good luck.
If you're going to screed it you can use just about anything, so long as it "feathers" well. (I wouldn't imagine dry pack feathers that well.)
