I've had good success with Autosketch, if you're looking for a lower budget tool with some precision to it (around $100). Not really too tailored to floorplans specifically, but it's very flexible and has some symbol libraries that are ok.
Turbo cad has a program called, believe it or not, Floorplan. I have it but never used it so I can't comment on it's quality.
You need to specify a price range and describe your expected useage to get much more help.
I wound up with a copy of VISIO Pro which has all kinds of weird stuff, including walls, windows, furniture, etc. I used it to fiddle with a plant that we then sent to a draftsman to do a "real" job on. Worked really well for the preliminary stage, and he was pleased to have something to work from.
for just floor plans .. it would be hard to beat 3-D Home Architect.. by BroderbundMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
The program you want to search for is 3D Home Architect Deluxe, Version 3.0. Broderbund just came out with version 5.0 and assumming it is an "improvement" over version 4.0, stick with 3.0, probably available for $10-15 over the net. You cannot find a better bank for the buck, IMHO.
Good Luck
V.2 for free- CD only with no book
Shipping cost is all, 4.95 I think

I wondering if you and I had this discussion before :) In any event this points out the real need (hi andy) to have folders on this board for the most often posted topics (CAD software and Fibercement would garner my vote).
3D Home Architect in its many versions has been around for awhile and a good way to describe it would be a poor man's Chief Architect. I might opt for version 5.0 of 3DHA because Broderbund sent me a "coupon" for $29 + a money back guarantee. I tried version 4.0 and while it improved the rendering capabilities, the rendering speed was terrible and this on a pretty hot machine. I removed from my computer long ago. I have used version 3.0 extensively, i.e. 3D Home Architect Deluxe 3.0, and remember using earlier versions with some disappointment. Or maybe it would be fairer to say that 3.0 fully lived up to the advertising promises and was a feature rich improvement over earlier versions.
