Time to refinish the Maple Ffoors. We had some water damage a couple of months ago and in the repair process we are looking at doing the entire first floor. I’ve heard a lot about Bona Traffic and will probably try to get the person we hire to use it. My main concern is the dust and mess that will be generated I want to mitigate it or try to have it controlled as much as possible. When hiring someone are there any specific types of floor sanders or dust collectors I should be asking that the contractor be using? I’ve heard the Bona Dustless floor sanding system is pretty good but I’m not sure how many contractors would be using it.

I have never actually used any of those new fancy dustfree sanders. We always just remove or cover up anything of importance and put boxfans in as may windows as we have fans. Always seems to work pretty well. Main concern is HOs rose garden outside the window:)

ted,
Cover all air returns in the rooms, keep the furnace shut down during sanding, brooming / cleanup. Cover the supply register openings and vac them out b/4 turning the heat on.
Seal openings into the room(s) and dropcloth the entry points.
Running the heat will pull dust out of a well sealed room, quickly foul the filter and then proceed to spread it around.
