Floor sanding:
I have a request to repair an exterior covered painted porch floor, sand it, and then repaint it. I usually would sub this out to a floor refinishing contractor, but since it is a small porch (350 sq. feet), I’d thought I’d just do it myself. I plan to use four pad floor sander. Has anyone had any experience sanding a painted floor and what grit sanding disks should I expect to use on a painted floor?
Thanks

Jake,
In my experience with a pad sander, you would want to start with the lowest ## grit (e.g., 30 grit) and work your way up. It's going to be a chore if any of the flooring is cupped.
