flooring stapler and a small compressor
I’m going to be installing 1300 sq. ft. of oak 3/4″ flooring in my house and just purchased the Bostich MIIIFS flooring stapler (FYI: Amazon.com has it for $321 now)for the job. I currently have a small Porter-Cable 6 gal. pancake compressor (3.7 SCFM @ 40psi, 2.6 SCFM @ 90psi), would it be able to drive the Bostich stapler or do I need a larger compressor? My thinking is that it’s a little small and may have to run more often, but may be able could squeek by….

It'll do the job.
i,ve got the same gun.i read the specs and it takes lots of air.but then you relize thats shooting like 60 staples a min. i couldn't swing the hammer that fast ,let alone place wood and staples every 12"! i think you'll be fine unless your fasttttttttttt! larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
I laid appx 600 SF of flooring with same set up. No issues, set the pressure at about 100 psi, and go.
When using a small compressor for jobs that are a little larger than the compressor is designed for, a small fan continuously blowing on the motor/pump keeps it much cooler.
The fan works so well that I'm looking into a small 6" square computer fan that could be permanently attached to the compressor.
thank you all for your responses! It looks like I'm good to go!
I second or third the information that it will work for you. Just pause while the compressor is running until it fills so that you are at full pressure and volume.
