Pool heater about 325,000 BTU in, 225,000 BTU out, or something like that, don’t have the actual numbers in front of me.
Also a 40 gallon GE water heater, several years old.
Now I know, and I’m sure you all know, that a 4″ vent pipe for the water heater is sufficient. And on the big pool heater we have a 10″ vent pipe. All B vent piping.
We had the pool house remodeled, and our beloved village inspector wants us to “provide flue sizing for water & pool heaters” at final inspection.
The pool heater is very old, and no manual exists that I can find. I have the water heater manual, but it doesn’t say anything.
Where can I find a table listing flue or vent sizing for various BTU inputs/outputs or efficiencies?
Thanks in advance.

>>Both the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA) have published venting design manuals. NFPA publishes NFPA 54: National Fuel Gas Code (NFGC) 1996 Edition (800-344-3555). GAMA publishes Venting Tables, Category 1 Central Furnaces (703-525-9565). Both manuals rely on venting tables developed by the Gas Research Institute (GRI 312-399-8170). The NFGC and the GAMA methods of sizing are quite similar, but there are some differences that will be explained later.

The site linked sells software to do the calcs; any HVAC contrator should have a copy of the tables which you could photo copy for your inspector (be sure to photo-copy the title page.)
BTW, 4" for the water heater isn't always right. (It ususally is, but not always.)
