We are starting to get flys and ladybugs waking up mainly in our second floor. I find dead and dying ones everyday and not just a few either.I’ve been in the attic and I can see ladybug nests and can hear plenty of flys.
This is an old house we recently moved into (circa 1850) Any ideas for getting rid of these bugs or do we need to call an exterminator?
Thanks, Dave

Take a shop vac up and vacumm up the ladybugs/flies. repeat untill they disappear and do not come back. Late next summer you should look carefully at sealing up the rooms where they accumulate heavily.. Somehow they are getting in and seeking a nice warm place to winter over..

This is what we've been getting hit with the last coupla years. Damn little bugger bite too! Really annoying on a light colored house .... worked one job where they just swarmed to one side.

Spontaneous generation!!! Made a mistake of doing one of those fog bombs off in crawl space....yikes they ended up all upstairs and all over side of house.Im calling Rumsfield ....they have no predator stinking orange pooping gods lil creatures.
Can't help you with the ladybugs, but there is a product called 'cluster buster' to take care of the flies (if you have cluster flies) Cluster flies tend to occur in older houses, come out on warm winter, spring , fall and summer days, especially in the east and south and west and north windows. They bang around in the windows, then bounce off the ceiling until you want to rip their little wings off. Then one lands on your face when you're reading in bed. You'll find 25 - 50 -100 of the darlings in your windows.
If you have these demons from he!!, the cluster buster works quite well. It's a plastic rectangular box full of exploded egg shells. There is a web-site, google cluster buster. They're expensive (around 20$) and I bought 12 of them. Picked the worst windows in the house, and stuck them on. some windows have two.
We have gone from borderline insane, to just a few flies now and then. I keep thinking that maybe the flies went away, but if you look carefully, you can see the little boxes filling up with dead flies. Besides, the flies have been here for the last 50 years, so I don't think they just up and disappeared this year.
They're completely non-toxic, No smell from the decaying flies. Only problem is that eventually they will fill up, and I'll have to replace them. But until then, they're worth their weight in gold. REally consider getting some if you have cluster flies. And no, I don't own the company.
