I am using some pink extruded foam board insulation over a concrete block wall in my basement and inside a closet which faces an exterior wall. I have noticed that there is a plastic sheeting on one face of the foam. It says that it is a protective plastic. You can peel it off or leave it on.
Anyway, does this plastic act as a vapor barrier?
A second related question. I have glued the foam directly to the concrete block wall on the north side of my basement using heavy duty construction adhesive. It bonds well between the two surfaces and does not seem to eat into the foam like some adhesives. My question is that I find that the wall still sweats even with the foam glued to it. The foam itself is dry but I see small puddles at the base where the moisture on the wall must be dripping down and under the foam. Will adding a layer of foam on the outside of the block help stop the sweating. The wall is all above ground, so I know that this isn’t seepage from ground water.

jerry, you spoke of using two unvented propane heaters for all your heating requirements in your thread "Don't Like Mold". What are you using for heat these days?
