Has anyone had any experience with this? We have a customer who wants us to install ash flooring over a subfloor with staple-up radiant heat tubes. Because of chemical sensitivities, they want a foil faced paper used under the wood flooring instead of rosin paper, to seal potential outgassing from the subfloor. We haven’t found any specific recommendations against this, but are reluctant to offer a warranty because we just don’t know what may happen. Does anyone have any related experiences would be helpful?

What outgassing from the sub-floor? And what is the foil faced paper gonna do after it's compromised a couple hundred times with flooring hardware? Wouldn't it outgass from below anyway, via the basement?
Anyway, to your question. Ask the manufacturer of the paper whether it will allow moisture migration. If not, problems could occur. Anything from mold to delamination of the substrate.
