I have been looking for someone to sharpen our saw blades. No one around that I can find short of shipping them 40 miles south which would quickly eat up the savings.
Next brain storm………how much would it cost to do it ourselves?
It seems as though older Foley Belsaw equipment is available and quite cheap. So the question is…….any body ever used any of it? Will older equipment do newer carbide blades? Parts available?
I have a minor background in machining (lathe and mill work) and welding so I am not uncomfortable with the machinery, just whether it will do simple circular saw sharpening or not. Thanks! DanT

the entry level ones are not very accurate or consistant...
you can ruin a good blade....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Finally a post I can answer. My father owns one and hes had it for at least 20 years old. I use it all the time to sharpen blades for my own tools. He mainly uses it to sharpen his 10" blades and then the individual teeth for the 48" sawmill blade. It adjusts from 6 1/2" to almost 40 inch i think. Its a great machine but Its a costly maching i'm not sure what they go for now but back in the day he paid 1500$ But i would highly recommend it. they even sell router bit jigs. I'm not sure on the model number he has but i'll take a look tomm and let you know.
Great! One of the reasons this forum is so good. Information that is usable!
So it does carbide ok and all? And I would appreciate the model number. Thanks again! DanT

if you decide to find one ... this place would be my first stop.
you can even put in an "order" ... and they'll try to track it down or call when they get something similar in.

I saw a demo once at a woodworking show and the guy had a little wooden jig (a board with 2 nails in it) to sharpen 10" saw blades. I didn't buy it, but I was convinced that it works.
Here is the website where you can order it
