Just a followup to something I read recently in FHB – a question about dealing with cracking skin on hands and fingers. I tried some of the suggestions offered (bandaids, ointment, wearing gloves at night, etc.). About a year or so ago, I started putting Super Glue on the cracks. Super Glue might be similar to the New-Skin product mentioned. The glue holds the cracks together, allows them to heal and dosen’t fall off like bandaids. Also, if you bump the crack while you’re working, the glue helps cushion the hit. I suspect Super Glue is cheaper than New Skin, but have not checked prices. I have found that it helps to put the glue on as soon as a crack develops, but applying it before going to sleep, gives your hands and fingers that extra time to heal. Also, Super Glue makes a small bottle with a brush applicator that is very handy.
Hope this helps.

I used to get that a lot when working outside in winter. The colder it got the worse my hands would crack. It seems like the thicker and more calloused my hands also made it worse, so I started sanding away a lot of that extra skin the way you would sand your nails. 120 -150 grit on a finish sander will clean them right fast.
For treatment when I do get them, I liked to keep an aloe plant which I would cut a small chunk off of the tip of a nice fat healthy leaf, then peal one side, and tape it over the injury for the night. Most of the time it would heal overnight.
Good Luck

Heals well because damn hard to wipe off, stays in the crevices all night long.
